Ongoing Project: County Budget Tracking Project

The overall goal of this project is to support good governance in three counties of the coast region namely Kwale, Mombasa and Kilifi to strengthen integrity and accountability in the management of public affairs with emphasis to the county budgeting processes. The project seeks to accomplish two main objectives;

  1. To empower the public to effectively participate in the county budgeting, monitoring, and implementation processes.
  2. To facilitate the formation of public participation platforms by the three counties as provided for in law.

Working in conjunction with the county governments and civil society groups, this project conducts public education on the right to participate in budgeting processes and expanding a government-run citizen complaint system.

LENGGO aims to make sure that people not only know their rights but are able to connect directly to government departments that are proactive in answering questions and resolving issues on budgets.

Activities under this project include:

  1. Capacity building to CBOs, County governments, and members of the public in general on budgeting, public participation, and budget tracking.
  2. Magnetic public Theatre performances.
  3. Use of ICT platforms such as Mobile phone/SMS Technology.
  4. Digital bus platforms and;
  5.  Graffiti paintings on public walls.
